It's been four years since I got these Showers Pass rain pants, and they have exceeded my expectations. They are made of Artex 3 layer fabric, which is a Gore-Tex alternative. Showers Pass doesn't make these pants anymore, but they still make lots of rain gear with the Artex 3 layer fabric. These pants have been RAD to me, and I would recommend anybody check out Showers Pass :)
The Arc’teryx Beta is considered an “entry level” three layer rain jacket in the world of Arc’teryx. It is priced well above other entry level 3 layer jackets, and in most ways, feels nothing like an entry level anything. This, and the newest Beta jackets are made from Gore-Tex ePE, which is intended to be a less toxic fabric than the previous Gore-Tex. The previous stuff contained intentionally added PFAS Chemicals for some reason. 🤷🏼♂️
