Wet after one use - Merrell Moab 3 Mid Waterproof review

Merrell claims this version of the Moab 3 is waterproof. It's not. And that's a bit of a bummer because I really like the Moab. They have excellent toe protection for kicking roots and rocks on the trail, excellent heel protection, and overall just a high level of comfort, including no break-in period from out of the box. And the insoles that come from the factory actually provide arch support, which is so rare. I still use Super Feet in mine because I think they're more comfortable, and why not be more comfortable? The Vibram TC5 outsole provides okay grip, but excellent durability. It fits my foot true to size, and it's even offered in wide sizes. It's also offered in a huge amount of colors, and since it's mass- produced, it can almost always be found on sale. I seriously like them, which is why I'm so bummed about the fact that these are water resistant at best. I stood in a rushing creek for 15 straight minutes the first day that I wore these, and it kept my feet all the way dry. Seriously impressive. The very next day, I spent about 2 and 1/2 hours splashing through puddles and walking outside in moderate rain. About an hour and a half in, my right foot started getting wet and then the left foot shortly followed. And I did dry my boots out in between. But ever since the creek, these shoes wet through consistently after about 90 minutes of time out in the rain, splashing through puddles or what have you. That's just not waterproof. It is water resistant, though, and these shoes are still really good. So, if that's okay with you, then sure. But just know before you get a pair of these that these shoes should be called water resistant Moabs, not waterproof. If you like this video, check out my channel.
