Arc’teryx vs. Outdoor Research - Which puffer is best?

For the past 2 years, the Arc'teryx Cerium LT has been my go-to puffer. In fact, I've said before that it might be perfect. I think this is the one. So, lately, I've gone on a quest to see if that's really true. And it turns out the first jacket I tried is better than that. So, what do I know? It's not like the Cerium is bad. In fact, last spring I did a review on it, if you want to check that out after this video, and all I really talked about was how great it was. That all still holds up. It's just that The Outdoor Research does everything a little bit better. They both have adjustable hoods, adjustable waist cinches, elastic arm cuffs, and windproof and waterproof fabric. I can really only come up with one reason why I would recommend the Arc'teryx over the Outdoor Research, and I'll tell you that at the end of the video, so stick around. Really, it comes down to details. The Cerium has pockets, but the Outdoor Research has microfleece lined pockets. Just a little bit extra comfort on your hands. They both have adjustable hoods, but the external drawstring on the Outdoor Research makes it a lot more comfortable for your ears when you have the hood up. They are both water resistant, but the contrast fabric on the top part of the Outdoor Research jacket is better at resisting water than the standard fabric all around the Arc'teryx. As far as sizing goes, the Outdoor Research is a large and I'm 6'2 and 190 lb. Fits well. The Cerium is an extra large and fits a little extra room. The only thing that's nicer about the Arc'teryx than the Outdoor Research is that it has two waist cinchies to the Outdoor Research's one, and that's not really that big of a deal. The Cerium packs into a little bag, but the Helium packs into its own pocket. The Outdoor Research even has the Arc'teryx beat on price, which is not uncommon because Arc'teryx is known for being very expensive. But usually they come through with some magic touch of extra value or something that just makes it better if you don't care about money. But in this case, the better jacket is also cheaper. Which brings me to the one reason why I would recommend the Arc'teryx, and that is if you really want the little birdie on your jacket. If you are one of the people that really cares about brands and you hold the Arc'teryx brand in super high regard, then obviously just get this cause it is an excellent jacket and I'm really glad that I have it. I still wear it all the time. But if you're looking to get the best puffer jacket between these two, it's the Outdoor Research. If you like this video, that's sick cuz I'm going to make a whole lot more. I'll see you next time and I'm stoked. My jacket fell off. I'm stoked that you're here. All right, let's go. I'm done. I'm cold. I'm wearing shorts :P
