REI Co-op 650 Jacket - Good & Cheap.
This is the REI Co-op 650 down jacket. If you ask me, free gear is the best gear, but the next best bet is good and cheap, and that's exactly what this is. In every respect, it's a basic jacket, but that's reflected in the price, so I don't really mind. It has only two pockets, nowhere to really officially stuff it or pack it away, although it's not bad at being packed into itself. Windproof fabric that actually does work. Water resistant fabric that's like the very lightest level of water resistance that you can pass for. The fit is also true to size. I'm 6'2, 190 lb. This jacket is a size large and I think it fits great. This is the jacket version, meaning it doesn't have a hood. It does have some adjustability down around the waist with a really cheap feeling single bungee pull on one side. And I just hate the way it looks when it's flapping around. So, I knotted it up to get it out of the way. And honestly, it's fine. Even the name is straight-forward. 650 refers to the 650 fill power down. The lower the number, the lighter the jacket is. So, for reference, the Arc'teryx Cerium is 850. It's available in some surprisingly fun colors like this one. And if you score last season's color like I did, it's even cheaper than the already reasonable list price. I've been reviewing some expensive puffer coats lately, and the only real difference I can tell between this and those is nice to have features. fancy things like lined pockets and really nice adjustable bits all around it. But the overall fit, finish, and quality isn't really that far off, and the price is significantly less. If I only had to buy one puffer jacket, this wouldn't be it because I like fancy features. But if you're budget conscious or just don't care, then the REI 650 is the full meal deal. Anyway, if you like this video, check out my channel and if you want to come along, subscribe. But either way, I'm stoked you're here and I'll see you next time. The best type of gear is free gear. But if it's my money, the second best
