The Rab Microlight Alpine jacket is worth talking about.

This is the Rab Microlight Alpine. It's a relatively lightweight down puffer jacket. And like most puffer jackets, it's surprisingly warm even though it's super light. There's only one feature that sets it apart from any of the other jackets in the category, but I think it's still a really good jacket and definitely worth talking about. The Microlight claims to be windproof, and it's not like I'm standing in gale force winds or anything, but for everything I've worn it in, it is. And I've always got room for another lightweight, warm jacket I could just toss in my trunk. The fit is excellent. I'm 6'2, 190 lbs, and I'm usually between a size large or extra large whenever it comes to outerwear. This jacket is a size large, and I think it fits great. This jacket is almost boring, except for this color, which Rab calls dark pollen. I think looks a little bit like baby poop in certain lights, but it doesn't detract me from really liking the jacket. In fact, I kind of like the color even if it is a little poopy. It has 700 fill power down, which I think is a perfect middle ground. My Arc'teryx Cerium is an 850 and Outdoor Research Helium is 800. So, this one actually serves a purpose well. Today, it's probably in the mid-40s, and it's been sunny and nice, and I only have a small layer on underneath it, and it's the perfect warmth. It's got these little waist cinchies, three pockets right where you would expect them, and an adjustable hood. The hood has a rigid brim to it, which is kind of a nice touch, but doesn't really do anything. You kind of have to use a baseball hat if you really want to keep wind and rain out of your eyes, but it looks cool. The whole jacket has this hydrophobic coating on it, and they must be proud of it because not only do they mention it all over their website, but it even has a little NASCAR logo down on the left side advertising it to the whole world, even if it is a bit gimmicky. I always appreciate whenever a piece of outerwear comes with a bit of extra water resistance from the factory. The Rab Microlight Alpine is a pretty rad jacket. Even though the only thing that really makes it stand out is this hydrophobic coating everywhere. You're not making a bad call if this is the only down puffer jacket you ever own. It's up to the task in every single way, and I think that makes it worth talking about. If you like this video, check out my channel. And if you want to come along, subscribe. But either way, I'm stoked you're here, and I'll see you next time. Maybe I like my jackets to look like poop. Don't judge :P
