This jacket is fire resistant - TEREN Campfire Puffy Jacket 2.0 Review
This jacket is supposed to be fire resistant. I guess more like ember resistant. You know, like whenever you're sitting around a campfire and an ember pops on your very favorite puffer coat and making it have to wear some patch for the rest of its life. It's called the Campfire Puffy 2.0. Obviously, I checked to see if it was fire resistant. And I got to admit, I didn't think it would be, but after holding it over the fire, letting little embers pop on it, actually letting fire touch it, and then dropping actual pieces of ember on it, the jacket has zero damage. And I'm not sure what kind of voodoo fabric this is, but I have a feeling it's going to last for like 10 years. As far as features not related to fire, this jacket is windproof, water resistant, and it's got some beefy Primaloft insulation. So, even though it doesn't look like a standard puffer jacket, you know, with the ribs up and down, it outperforms both my Arc'teryx Cerium LT and my Outdoor Research Helium Down hoodie. It's not designed to be packable. It is a bulkier jacket, which is helpful whenever it comes to things like durability and overall warmth. But on a recent trip, I had to leave this at home because it just wouldn't fit in my bag. It is truly windproof. I mean, the fabric on this jacket is just super thick and wind just doesn't come through. As far as water resistance, there isn't a waterproof membrane inside of the jacket, but it has a really nice tight-knit fabric and an excellent coat of DWR from the factory. So, as long as you continue keeping that water repellent finish healthy, you can rely on this jacket to keep you dry for at least 2 to 3 hours. And the adjustable oversized hood is perfect. I love the branding on this jacket. It only shows up on a little campfire logo on the sleeve. And on the bottom left part of the waist, there's a little tiny print on logo. That's my kind of branding. As far as sizing, I'm 6'2", 190 lb. This jacket is a size large and it fits with a little bit of extra room, which for me is perfect for layering, but it doesn't look too bulky if I just wear it over a t-shirt. It's about 40 degrees today. I have a light mid layer on underneath and I am the perfect temperature just with some light pants and my little baseball hat on. There's only two things about this jacket that I don't like. One of them is that it's only available in black and I like colors. give me a green or a brown or just something other than black. But that's also just me. The Campfire Puffy also lacks ventilation. It's the perfect jacket for me until I have to start going up hills. If there was some way to let air through without having to do the old-fashioned zip your jacket down and put it over your shoulders technique, that would be really nice. This jacket is kind of like a luxury pickup truck. It's something you can take out for a long weekend in the mountains with all your toys and go play and then on Monday morning show up to the office in it or take it out to valet at some fancy restaurant and it looks the part in every single scenario. If you're looking for one jacket to do it all, the Campfire Puffy is a pretty serious contender. If you like this video, check out my channel. And if you want to come along, subscribe.
