These bad boys have saved my feet. It's been like a decade since I've started wearing Super Feet insoles, but insoles in general are a really important part of the footwear equation. And here's why. Even the most reputable shoe manufacturers still are making shoes for everyone, not you specifically. Take La Sportiva for example, which is one of my favorite hiking shoe manufacturers. Apparently, a very thin piece of memory foam counts as an insole for them. Then we have Merrell with the legendary Moab. They put a little bit of extra support and it does something... And then there's the Super Feet Trailblazer insole, which has plenty of flex up front, but obviously lots of support in the back. That's because there's this really hard bit that provides actual arch support and quite a bit of high density foam all around it. Since I was like 8 years old, I've had to use some sort of arch support in my shoes because of the way my body is. This isn't supposed to be an ad for Super Feet or anything. More of just a public service announcement that if you get joint pain, you're not alone. But really, (if you) get joint pain after going on hikes, something is probably wrong with your footwear equation. The best place to start would be your local outdoor retailer. Insoles are starting to catch on and there's a good chance that they might know a lot about this and can be really helpful to you. And there's about a million solutions out there. So, don't take my word that the Super Feet Trailblazer is the best insole ever. But do take my word that you shouldn't be getting joint pain after going on hikes and that it is worth it to do your own research to find something, whether it's a shoe, insole, whatever, that works for you.
