Two shoes combined - Altra Lone Peak ALL-WTHR MID 2

(Please note the below text is a transcript of the video)

This is the Altra Lone Peak All Weather 2, which is pretty much what you get when you combine a trail runner with a hiking boot. I like everything there is to like about this shoe, except for the zero drop heel, and that's something that's worth talking about, so I promise we'll get to that. But first, I want to talk about all the great things about this little shoe. This is my first pair of Altra's, and all I've ever heard about them is the wide, roomy toe box. Well, I never knew how much room my little piggies needed to spread out, especially when going uphill. But boy! Why aren't all shoes made like that? It's just too comfortable. And speaking of comfort, the only issue with out of the box comfort was these flimsy foam liners that came with it. Not to worry, though. I have my trusty Super Feet insoles, and that solved the issue. The Lone Peaks also provide excellent grip on like every single surface, uphill, downhill, wet, muddy, rocky, whatever. I'm just really impressed. It's really common for manufacturers to say something is waterproof and it actually isn't. I've worn these for about 50 miles total, 25 of which have been in weather like this.

And every single time I get back home, my feet are bone dry. I like to think of Altra as a hybrid between the barefoot style shoes and your standard hiking shoe. And for reasons that I don't fully understand, going just three or four miles at a time in these shoes gives me foot pain, knee pain, back... and all of the generally not good feelings that come with a shoe that's not working with your body. I'm really hesitant to blame Altra for this because they're pretty upfront about having a different style shoe, and the wide toe box is something that I love. So, I keep trying them again and again, and I will let you know if I end up having a change. So, if you haven't already subscribed to my channel, check it out and go ahead and subscribe. But even with the heel situation not working out for me so far, I would recommend anyone go try a pair of Altra's to see if they work for you. Overall, I'm really happy that I bought these.
